People that know me well, know that I’m sort of “hippy/granola” when it comes to my children. Their diets are 75% (25% unavoidable birthday party junk and the occasional pizza) organic, unprocessed and sugar-free. They don’t get much in terms of electronics other than 20 mins on their iPad. I prefer books to tv and outdoor play to a mall. So when I found out that there was a “toy” that would serve as both a learning activity and entertainment, I was ecstatic!
The Happy Box was created in 2014 by inspirational mommy, Jumana Al Darwish. It’s basically a fun-filled craft box that your child can make into various games or toys. Everything you need to create comes in the box including a beautiful booklet with easy-to-follow directions and pictures. Sienna and I got the Happy Tutu Box as she LOVES magic and fairies. Sienna was so super excited to get started that she didn’t even give me a chance to get a picture of the box itself.
I can’t gush enough about this beautiful company. Not only is the box that everything comes with better quality than most storage boxes in my house, the items within the box are just at another level. Every craft item has been meticulously measured and packed. The wand and tutu will last for years with regular play and Sienna is very proud of what she was able to create with determination and drive. Can’t wait to get our next one! This type of “toy” teaches our children that with hard work and dedication, you can muster up something that both you and others can be proud of for a long time to come. **Oh, and if you’re looking for the perfect birthday gift. This is it! How many brownie points would you get if you gave a Happy Box, instead of the usual toy or craft from the big retail toy stores at the mall? Um, about a million!
Happy Boxes are available online at The Happy Box for ages 3-11. They have single boxes available for purchase if you want to give a one time gift or a monthly subscription for your little (and big) kids creative minds. The monthly subscriptions contain 8 learning-based activities and a book and each item is customized according to your child’s age and gender. Every month’s box will consist of a new theme and original learning-based activities. If you’re traveling with your littles, The Happy Box also has a Travel Box which provides hours of play instead of your kids spending hours in front of a tv or iPad screen. The Happy Box carries a Party Favor Box and a Happy Go Lucky Box for us big kids as well! If a tangible item is what you’re looking for, The Happy Boxes are also available at these select retailers in Dubai, but they do sell out fast: Saucette, Smitten, Harvey Nichols and most recently Fairy Tales Dubai!
Happy shopping and thanks for reading! xx
