The number one question I get asked often is: “What is the brand of hair extensions you use?”. I can honestly confirm that I have never used hair extensions my entire life because I just don’t have the patience for so much maintenance. My hair is 100% mine and ironically enough, I didn’t get half the amount of hair my mother and my sister were blessed to receive. Now, they have what you call GORGEOUS hair! But, I do get numerous comments on my hair and I would love to share my favorite hair products.
Sienna, her Aunt Tanya and I decided to do a spa day at home. Sienna wanted the whole experience, complete with foot spa, massage and manicure/pedicure. So we turned to this set I bought on Amazon. Now, I knew girly girls existed, but I think Sienna sets the benchmark. When I was three, I was rolling around in dirt and playing hide and seek. This girl is interested in nail polish, hair braids and singing. Singing I can relate to, but my nails and hair are always annoying for me to get painted. My nails are actually never done and my hair, for the most part, is the only thing I spend time on (because it’s long and tangled).
Before I had kids, a day without any scheduled meetings or tasks was an anomaly, but it was a day that I always welcomed with open arms. And sure, even now those days come and go, but the pressure to find something to entertain/educate the kids never takes a day off. I end up feeling guilty if the kids sit at home and play with their toys while I am out meeting with tailors for the clothing line or in my room working on the blog. I find myself questioning what they learned today or if they even had a good day. This “mother guilt” is definitely a real thing.
Hey all! I recently completed Sienna and Cole’s playroom. Well, not recently, but there’s always something I want to alter and change as it’s the room we all spend the most time playing. I made sure that a lot of my purchases came from small businesses as I love supporting tangible people instead of faceless corporations. But obviously the usual suspects are hard to ignore when it comes to home decor – Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, West Elm, etc. I hope you enjoy perusing as much as I enjoyed putting this room together.
My daughter Sienna has my hair. 100%. With that comes a very sensitive-to-pain scalp and easily tangled hair. Not the best combo! After showering it takes a good 15 minutes just to brush my hair out and even longer for Sienna. She also has these natural curls on the bottom ⅓ of her hair and they are responsible for even more intense knotting. I tried to convince her that Rupunzel from Tangled also has to brush her hair and that’s why it’s so long and healthy and she didn’t buy it. Therefore, I have had to search high and low for the best paraben-free and sulfate-free shampoo for her hair type. I can honestly say that I’ve used over 15 shampoo brands from all over and I finally have my top four! I’ve listed them in the order of favorite to absolutely the best thing ever in the history of ever!
How many kids do you know who ask for spinach and broccoli on their pizza? At least I did something right. Because boy, do I doubt my parenting skills on the daily. I’m sure I’m not alone, but I’ve learned its best to not compare myself to other moms. This parenting thing is absolutely the most terrifying job in the world.
I know I’m not the only mother in the world that wishes time to stand still. It’s so terrifying to think that one day these adorable little babies will turn into teenagers. It’s inevitable. It. Will. Happen. This past Saturday we went to the Ripe night market in Barsha Pond Park and had such a beautiful day. I was able to take a step back and appreciate how adorable these kids have grown to become.
