Birthday Parties for Different Budgets

Hey y’all! Apologies for being MIA the last little while as I’ve been busy working on some fun and exciting projects.  I’ve also been reflecting on which direction I would like to take the blog.  As we have just passed on our 1 year anniversary a couple of months ago(yay), I’d like to ensure the content that I publish is not only informational, but also interesting.  I’ll be posting everything that I come across that excites me and only things that I know I would want to buy, experience and recommend.  As such, I thought a birthday party post was vital. These birthday parties (for children!) can easily turn into lavish events. We want to give them the best of everything, but most of the time the kids don’t even notice a difference between a play area or life-sized castles and pizza or catered gourmet meals.

Five Things You Wish You Could Tell Your Toddlers

1: “You’re not that bright”  What makes you think it’s okay to pick up a nasty, half-eaten Cheeto in the middle of a book store in one of the busiest malls in Dubai?  How did you even find that Cheeto? It was in the corner of the cookbook section.  What compelled you to put it in your mouth? Did it look delicious? With the various rows filled with Children’s books, you decided to seek out the cookbook section hoping to dig up a Cheeto? And that’s just a tiny example! Between falling copious times a day and blindly picking up objects and tasting them like they’re chocolate laced morsels of heaven, do I need to have a third “insurance” baby just in case?

Spa Day (at Home)!

Sienna, her Aunt Tanya and I decided to do a spa day at home.  Sienna wanted the whole experience, complete with foot spa, massage and manicure/pedicure.  So we turned to this set I bought on Amazon. Now, I knew girly girls existed, but I think Sienna sets the benchmark. When I was three, I was rolling around in dirt and playing hide and seek.  This girl is interested in nail polish, hair braids and singing.  Singing I can relate to, but my nails and hair are always annoying for me to get painted.  My nails are actually never done and my hair, for the most part, is the only thing I spend time on (because it’s long and tangled).

Mom Guilt is a Real Thing

Before I had kids, a day without any scheduled meetings or tasks was an anomaly, but it was a day that I always welcomed with open arms.  And sure, even now those days come and go, but the pressure to find something to entertain/educate the kids never takes a day off.  I end up feeling guilty if the kids sit at home and play with their toys while I am out meeting with tailors for the clothing line or in my room working on the blog.  I find myself questioning what they learned today or if they even had a good day.  This “mother guilt” is definitely a real thing.

Sienna and Cole’s Playroom

Hey all!  I recently completed Sienna and Cole’s playroom.  Well, not recently, but there’s always something I want to alter and change as it’s the room we all spend the most time playing.  I made sure that a lot of my purchases came from small businesses as I love supporting tangible people instead of faceless corporations. But obviously the usual suspects are hard to ignore when it comes to home decor – Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, West Elm, etc.  I hope you enjoy perusing as much as I enjoyed putting this room together.

The Most Terrifying Job in the world

How many kids do you know who ask for spinach and broccoli on their pizza? At least I did something right. Because boy, do I doubt my parenting skills on the daily. I’m sure I’m not alone, but I’ve learned its best to not compare myself to other moms. This parenting thing is absolutely the most terrifying job in the world.

A Walk in the Park

I know I’m not the only mother in the world that wishes time to stand still.  It’s so terrifying to think that one day these adorable little babies will turn into teenagers.  It’s inevitable.  It. Will. Happen.  This past Saturday we went to the Ripe night market in Barsha Pond Park and had such a beautiful day.  I was able to take a step back and appreciate how adorable these kids have grown to become.
